can you add a tutorial or a way to explain the game becuase it is very confusing on how to play

(-1)

If I return to this project at any point, then yes. There will be a story/tutorial added.

(+2)

i dont understand how to play

(+1)

It's probably broken at this point. I should just remove the project from itch, lol

this is your only project though

(+1)

Yeah, I use Github for my projects. I only used itch because there was a game jam. There's another jam coming up, so you'll see one more project from me up here soon enough!

oh ok

and also no the game isnt broken yet

what do the mirrors even do? They just reduce the amount you make?

Mirrors are supposed to allow you to redirect your light, and can be powered up to boost the light production after reflection. Whether that works as intended is a different story. I might be just taking this project down as I haven't worked on it in a while.

This game feels slow. I have to wait for ten minutes just to get a mirror.  I'm playing that meta game for this jam, so how do I do the mirror glitch?

(1 edit)

The icons for the things are missing. I don't know what they are because i cannot see what they are supposed to be.

Interesting. I haven't worked on this in a while, but maybe the local storage on itch is not permanent?

(+1)

Maybe. Every icon which doesn't require any letters have the same problem, even the 3 button to the right. Only the writing I can fully see.

The only thing I can see besides the inventory boxes and writing is this:

Also: Is there any specific web browser it work best on?

I tried edge and google chrome and they are both dealing with the same problem.

the game's alright, but what does the collides do...what are they for.

Sorry man, but this... it needs a lot of work to be acceptable. I was very confused at first, with the shop layout covering the other shops. Eventually I just straight up broke the game by stacking a ton of mirrors and I literally got infinite light

I know it needs a ton of work. That's why I put Prototype in the description. I have a fix for the infinite light bug, but in the process I discovered a much more pervasive bug involving light interactions. As a very entry-level coder, this is kicking my butt, lol. I'm sorry you had to play such a mess.

It's alright. a bit unfortunate that it ended up in the meta game tho. lemme know when it's polished up, I'll give it another shot :)

https://imgur.com/a/I1Cf0Df Not sure what is going on here any why I have so much money. I spammed on and off buttons and i have infinite money now, fix your game and don't submit your broken games anymore please.

(+5)

I am sorry you had a similar experience with it. I tried to specify that it was not a full game, just a concept. "This is my first submission to a game jam, and is more of a prototype than an actual game at this point." I'll probably just remove it at this point.

(+4)

The concept is good, don't get discouraged just because someone is throwing a tantrum that the prototype he got to play for free has a bug in it.

(+3)(-4)

It got submitted for incremental-game-jam-game and now I cant complete it. I went through like 10 games already but this one just breaks the whole experience.

(+2)(-1)

Yeah, it's a Game Jam. The games are made in a week, by hobbyists, for fun. If one bug in a game prototype is "ruining the whole experience" of a game jam for you, then you should probably just avoid them in the future.

(+5)

Yeah. I was initially teamed up with someone with more experience, but he dropped out 2 days in. I'll try again this weekend to get the biggest bugs gone, because I am interested in my concept, but my lack of actual experience keeps biting me in the ass.

i didn't realize the shop covered up other options.  I spent so long trying to figure out how to make anything happen.

I apologize for that. I am redesigning the shop layout to make it much easier to work with, and I anticipate the update containing that fix, among other things, to go up this week!

how do you concentrate so much light to one point? I have mad e it make that weird ball of light but nothing else happens

That part isn't in the game yet. It was intended to be the next progression point, but the mirror bug made progress explode way beyond that point anyways.
